AI Interpretation Engine

Biomarkers that adapt
to your biology.

Standard tests apply static reference ranges to everyone. Our AI generates personalised biomarker interpretations drawn from your unique data cross-referenced against clinical literature — updated as the science evolves.

Dynamic · Not Static
Personalised reference ranges
Rather than applying population-average thresholds, our AI contextualises your results against your age, sex, reported symptoms, dietary patterns, and prior test history to generate ranges meaningful to your physiology specifically.
Literature-Grounded
Every biomarker cites its evidence base
Each AI-generated interpretation links directly to peer-reviewed studies. Evidence is tiered — Established (multiple human RCTs), Supported (observational + mechanistic), or Emerging (early-stage science) — so you know exactly how much confidence to place in each finding.
Cross-Pattern AI
Cluster findings invisible as single markers
The most clinically significant findings are patterns — not individual markers. Our AI detects co-occurrence signatures like the oral-gut translocation cluster (5 oral anaerobes simultaneously elevated) that no single biomarker threshold would catch.
AI Biomarker Examples
Live from patient data
Tryptophan Fate Partitioning
Established
Your kynurenine:tryptophan ratio of 1.9× reference suggests inflammatory IDO pathway dominance — a biomarker associated with depression and cognitive impairment in prospective cohort studies.
Myint AM et al. — J Affect Disord 2007 PMID: 17222916
Beta-Glucuronidase Activity
Supported
Your gus cluster reads at 1.6× reference. Elevated beta-glucuronidase deconjugates estrogen in the gut, increasing recirculation — a mechanism linked to hormone-sensitive conditions and inflammatory amplification.
Kwa M et al. — JNCI 2016 PMID: 27382032
Oxalate Degradation Capacity
Supported
oxc/frc gene pool at 0.22× reference indicates low Oxalobacter formigenes equivalence. Combined with dietary oxalate load, this directly predicts joint pain patterns and kidney stone risk as documented in multiple clinical cohorts.
Siener R et al. — Kidney Int 2013 PMID: 23698230
TMAO Production Pathway
Established
cutC/cutD gene abundance elevated above reference. Microbial TMAO production is a well-established independent cardiovascular risk factor — the gut-heart connection validated in the NEJM landmark cohort study.
Tang WH et al. — NEJM 2013 PMID: 23614584
Established
Multiple Human RCTs
Two or more randomised controlled trials in humans confirm the association. Highest confidence tier. Examples: L. reuteri serotonin RCTs, B. longum 1714 stress study, TMAO cardiovascular cohorts.
~
Supported
Observational + Mechanistic
Consistent observational human data plus mechanistic animal or in vitro studies. Moderate confidence. Examples: beta-glucuronidase estrogen recirculation, oxalate degradation and joint pain, H₂S gut barrier disruption.
Emerging
Early-Stage Science
Animal studies or small human pilots with promising but unconfirmed associations. Always disclosed clearly. Examples: vagal tone taxa, sleep architecture microbiome links, quorum sensing in dysbiosis.

Comparison

How Biomeshield compares
to the alternatives.

Most consumer tests use 16S amplicon sequencing — a 30-year-old technology that misses fungi, viruses, archaea, and resistance genes entirely. None generate AI-personalised dynamic biomarkers with clinical study references.

Reviews

What our members discovered.

Real findings from real tests. These aren't marketing claims — they're what happens when you actually sequence the full microbiome.

★★★★★
I'd been told my gut was "normal" by two other tests. Biomeshield found Helicobacter cinaedi at the 99.9th percentile — an organism my gastroenterologist had never looked for. It explained symptoms I'd had for three years.

★★★★★
The tryptophan fate partitioning changed how I think about my depression. Seeing that 58% of my tryptophan was going down the kynurenine route — with the research to back it up — gave me something concrete to work with my psychiatrist on.

★★★★★
The resistome findings were worth the test alone. After two courses of antibiotics last year, seeing my tetracycline resistance gene load and understanding the recovery protocol was exactly what I needed. Three months later the retest shows real improvement.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know before ordering.

How is shotgun different from 16S?
16S amplicon sequencing targets a single bacterial gene region — it misses fungi, viruses, archaea, and resistance genes entirely, and only reaches genus-level resolution. Shotgun metagenomics sequences all DNA in your sample, capturing everything across all kingdoms at species and strain level, plus functional gene output.
Does elevated abundance mean I have an infection?
No. Elevated abundance means an organism is present at higher levels than population norms — not that you have an active infection. Our report explains the spectrum from commensal to opportunistic to pathogenic, and recommends clinical follow-up only where warranted. This is a surveillance and optimisation tool, not a diagnostic device.
How long does it take to get results?
Standard turnaround is 10–14 days from sample receipt at the lab. Elite tier has a priority 7-day turnaround. You'll receive an email notification when your report is ready, with a link to your secure dashboard.
Is the test available outside the US?
Currently available in the United States and Canada. UK and EU availability coming Q3 2026. International shipping for research purposes may be available — contact us directly.
Can I share results with my doctor?
Yes — and we encourage it. Every finding includes clinical references with PMIDs so your physician can review the evidence base. Your report is downloadable as a print-ready PDF. We also offer practitioner portal access for clinicians who work with multiple patients.
How is my data handled?
Your raw sequencing data is stored encrypted and never sold. De-identified data may be used to improve our population reference cohort — you can opt out at any time. We are HIPAA compliant and use SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure.
What do I need to do before collecting?
Avoid antibiotics for 4 weeks before collection if possible. No dietary restrictions required. Collect any time of day. Do not collect during or immediately after a gastrointestinal illness. Full instructions are included with your kit.
How often should I retest?
We recommend retesting every 8–12 weeks if you are actively working on intervention targets identified in your report. Annual testing is sufficient for ongoing surveillance if your results are in a healthy range. Longitudinal tracking becomes more valuable with each test.
